PROJECT: Thompson Hotel DC | FF&E Design | Parts and Labor Design NYC | 2020

DESCRIPTION: The Thompson Hotel was a new build located in the up and coming navy yards area of the Washington DC. Studios Architecture was the AOR for the project, with Parts and Labor designing all interior spaces. The concept for the spaces revolved around an art gallery-esque approach of architectural expression that celebrates figures in space in an ‘art as an object’ kind of way. This is predominatly seen in the lobby, with the bar as a sculptural element form that centers the room. The other design narrative followed is the celebration of the nautical influence based on the site location in the navy yards near the water. Stephanie came onto the project during design development, so her role involved designing some of the custom FF&E pieces, as well as overseeing the production of all custom FF&E items for the hotel lobby, 227 guestrooms / suites, the restaurant, and the rooftop. This involved procuring finish samples, working with manufacturers overseas, reviewing finish submittals, shop drawings, and mock-ups.
